Welcome
Our main mission is to showcase the country of Ireland and fortunately there is plenty of material available to us.
We are especially pleased by the fact that we have a catalogue of 40,000 photographs and that this number is increasing by a few hundred every week.
Initially we have concentrated on Dublin but as time progresses we will expand our activities to include all of the island and other countries within the European Union.
We have already visited Kildare, Maynooth, Drogheda, Balbriggan and Brussels (Belgium) and we hope to feature Cork, Limerick in the near future.
Dublin
Dublin is an old city, steeped in history of a turbulent past. From ancient landmarks to modern representations, there is much to see and do in Dublin as regards times passed. Find out about the Vikings who founded Dublin and the wars that shaped it as it is now.
Dublin began life as two seperate settlements, "Atha Cliath" and "Dubh Linn". The modern name of the city is derived from these two names. "Dublin" is the internationally recognised name of the city and "Baile Atha Cliath" is the Irish translation.
The Vikings were the first settlers at Dublin and old reminants of their settlement have been found at Wood Quay in Dublin City Centre on the site of Dublin City Council's civic offices. If you are interested in the Vikings there is much more information available on the main web site. There is plenty of history ... the Normans, the Tudors, the British an d the more recent history of the independent Republic Of Ireland.
There are more than 40,000 photographs available for you to view and as we devote a lot of time and effort to keeping our visitors up to date with events in the Dublin as well as the rest of the island we hope that you will visit us on a regular basis.
Many exciting features, such as interactive maps and slide shows, are being added on a daily basis so no matter how often you visit there should be something new and interesting to see.
All photographs are supplied by Infomatique and if you wish to use any of them please contact us by using the contact form.
