TestDisk is OpenSource software and is licensed under the terms of the GNU Public License (GPL).
TestDisk is a powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy.
TestDisk can
- Fix partition table, recover deleted partition
- Recover FAT32 boot sector from its backup
- Rebuild FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 boot sector

How to tell if 802.11n-enabling software is installed The Apple Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac is available at the Apple Store Online or on the disc that comes with the Airport Extreme (802.11n) Base station. To tell if this software is installed on your computer:
- From the Finder’s Go menu, select Utilities (or navigate to Applications/Utilities in the Finder).
- Open Network Utility.
- Click the Info tab if it is not selected.
- Select Network Interface (en1) from the pop up menu.
- In the section “Model: Wireless Network Adapter,” if you see “802.11 a/b/g/n”, then you have the 802.11n enabler installed. If you see “802.11 a/b/g” (without “n”), you do not have the 802.11n enabler installed.
Note: These Macs have 802.11n hardware built-in:
- MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo
- MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo
- Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme option
- iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (except the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac)
This is not quite a hint, hack, or anything, but it’s still of interest for those who like me were interested in upgrading their 802.11n-capable iMacs to the rank of 802.11n-enabled iMacs.
Well, I happened to decide only now that I would do that update after many months of resistence. (I didn’t have the need for it as my router doesn’t support 802.11n, but I am actually thinking of changing my router to a better one, so why not get an “n” one?). To my surprise, the Enabler wouldn’t install or work on my iMac, even though it is 802.11n capable. So I looked into some Tech Support Docs, namely this one which describes how to tell if your machine is n-enabled or not.

Leopard’s Finder Get Info panel now has a proxy icon on the panel’s title bar. It can be dragged like the proxy icon in a Finder window title bar, and behaves in the same manner. Dragging while holding Option-Command will create an alias. Dragging while holding Option will copy the file if the destination is on the same volume. Just dragging to a destination on the same volume will move the file.

So this leads to the question. Whats going on? Is this a hold over from EFI which is PE by default? Why would the OS need to load the EFI files? Maybe just for easy of development and testing? Or is something else going on? Is Apple going to be adding a win32 compatibility layer to OS X? Is having a loader of any use to us?
This, of course, leads some to the most dramatic conclusion: that Apple may be integrating Windows virtualization into Mac OS X itself. Of course, rumors of this possibility had been circulating for the months prior to Leopard’s official release.
One developer we had contacted about this finding thought it was very unlikely and felt that this parsing of PE files may simply be the product of Apple’s ongoing work with Safari and iTunes for Windows. He also noted that simply parsing PE files is a far step from being able to actually run Windows applications.

The Beatles’ accountants had informed the group that they had a large amount of capital which they could either invest in a business venture or else lose to the tax man. In addition to providing an umbrella to cover the Beatles’ own financial and business affairs, Apple was intended to provide a means of financial support to anyone in the wider world struggling to get ‘worthwhile’ artistic projects off the ground. It was pitched to the world’s media by John Lennon and Paul McCartney as an attempt at ‘Western Communism’.
The company name originated with McCartney, coming from a René Magritte painting he’d acquired; ‘Apple “Core” (Corps)’ was a play on words all the Beatles enjoyed. The ubiquitous logo was designed by Gene Mahon, with illustrator Alan Aldridge transcribing the copyright notice to appear on record releases.
The first two years of the company’s existence coincided with a marked worsening of the band members’ relationships with each other, ultimately leading to the break-up of the band in 1970. Apple quickly slid into financial chaos, which was resolved only after many years of litigation.
When the Beatles’ partnership was dissolved in 1975, dissolution of Apple Corps was also considered, but it was decided to keep it going, while effectively retiring all its divisions. The company is currently headquartered at 27 Ovington Square, in London’s prestigious Knightsbridge district. Ownership and control of the company remains with McCartney, Starr and the estates of Lennon and Harrison.
Apple Corps has had a long history of trademark disputes with Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.). The dispute was finally resolved in 2007, with Apple Corps transferring ownership of the “Apple” name to Apple Inc., and Apple Inc. licencing it back to The Beatles’ company. In April 2007, Apple also settled a long running dispute with EMI and announced the retirement of chief executive Neil Aspinall. Aspinall was replaced by Jeff Jones.
