Product Description

Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion.

For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, they quickly discover that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA.

Sev and his squad aren't just fighting the enemy forces - their fiercest opponent is the planet itself.

Welcome to Helghan, soldier!

  • Experience realistic, highly atmospheric environments that respond dynamically to the violent conditions on Helgha
  • Witness the devastating effects of Helghan's climate as it forces you and your enemies to adapt to new tactics
  • Face off against fearsome enemies who have learned to wield the hostility of Helghan itself against their opponents
  • Operate new and exotic weapons and vehicles, in addition to trusty Killzone classics like the M82-G and the StA-52 LAR

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing   September 2, 2010
C. Brown (Scotland)
Bought this on release, excited that everyone was saying it would be THE shooter of the PS3. First impressions were great visually, but a bit worried gameplay wise.
Impressions didn't change much after that, kept looking great, story was pretty good, but the fundamental aspect of the game, shooting, was rather terrible.
I understand this is probably them trying to make it a "realistic" shooter, but the guns just wouldn't do what you told them to. I'm used to CoD style aiming and shooting and with hours and hours devoted to figure this system out, I couldn't hack it.
Aiming never went where I wanted, it seems as if the analogue stick controls the acceleration, as opposed to the velocity. Tweaked the sensitivity till breaking point, but it made no difference, it just took far to long to actually aim on your target, with over and under aiming which seemed totally out of control. Then the recoil would make you have to do it all over again - with semi-automatics I was great at making pretty outlines of bullets around the enemy.

This is NOT a game to be bought without playing the demo first. Play the demo 2 or 3 times, and if you don't like the aiming (even if you have lingering doubt), simply put, you won't enjoy the game.
As much as you might love the scenery or storyline, a first person shooter is nothing of the "shooting" aspect just doesn't work to suit you.
Gave up on it within weeks, never finishing it, story was getting good too, a shame, but I couldn't bare the aiming.
Put me off Killzone for life.

Lucky to scrape a 3 from me, story and graphics were on its side.

4 out of 5 stars Killzone 2   August 30, 2010

I've played Killzone 1 in PS2 and i had to buy this one.
Even tough i'm not in the mood to play shooters, i have to confess that this one is a good one.
It's also good cause you can found it cheap everywhere. I recommend it.

2 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!   July 17, 2010

When I looked at other reviews and the game description I got really excited about getting the game but after playing it for at least 2 hours I realised that this game is a real disappointment.First of all the first level is so long I got bored of going through the same sort of scenery over and over again.Secondly the controls are absolutely rubbish, to aim the gun you have to press r3!!??

Overall I would give this game a 4 out of ten.

3 out of 5 stars Thrillzone ?   May 10, 2010

An entertaining first person shooter but not the most original of the breed.
This game has received a lot of good reviews and perhaps I've just come to it a little too late to appreciate it fully as the first of a new generation. Don't get me wrong there is nothing bad about this game, I just had the feeling that I had seen it all before.
You take the role in this game of your standard space marine type grunt landing on an alien planet as part of a large invasion force and there are some impressive cut scenes showing this.
Combat can be complete mayhem and the early battles are no exception as you join your squad fighting across a mixture of alien landscapes from run down cities to minining colonies and rocky barrens.
The weapons are a standard mix of assault rifles, handguns, sniper rifles and machine guns but none of them really feel right. I prefer guns that are simulated to sound and to kick back so that they feel powerful, rather than a carefully controlled point and shoot. One thing about the guns though that is a nice touch is that throughout there is a choice as to whether to use your own sides guns ( assuming you can get enough ammo ) or pick up the enemies ( which are generally inferior but have more ammo available ).
Note that although the multiplayer game is highly rated for this game its not what I buy games for. There is one interesting aspect to the multiplayer though in that it can be played one player against computer drones for practice which is nice to see.
Overall this is an enjoyable little game, slightly outclassed by more recent FPS releases but still worth pickiing up none the less.

3 out of 5 stars Not great, but enjoyable   April 14, 2010
Mr H (Hants, UK)
If you enjoy a full is action packed shoot em up then this game is definitely worth a play . Lots of Helghast 'soldiers' in a dark alien world environment. Not that much choice in the way of enemy tactical attack, just hoards of them time after time, getting quicker to move in on you as the game progresses. The landscape is finished nicely but is often Sev (the player you represent) lurking in amongst shadows and darkness. Weapon choice exists but not massive. I enjoyed it, but won't play again or keep, it will be traded in for something else.
