A very enjoyable game July 1, 2010 Aquinas (celestial heights, UK) Having come back from an excellent holiday where I played this game a couple of times with my brother and nephews, I can say that this game was a great bonding experience - it is really good fun and it is not dominated by luck - skill is needed in terms of placing and strategy - the fact that the board changes each time is an added plus.
Great fun, if a bit pricey May 26, 2010 Mr. Mato Richards (London) A great game, rather expensive for the build quality (printed card and a couple of cheap dice).
I bought this as I was told that if you enjoy RISK you'll love this. Partially true, there is a far greater element of luck in this game and everything can change in a couple of turns. Nevertheless a well structured game that has the added bonus of having everyone playing to the final roll. (unlike RISK, Monopoly etc).
Best. Board. Game. Ever. May 11, 2010 Darrell J. Rohl (Durham, UK) Settlers of Catan is fun, challenging and family-friendly. I'm a big fan of games like Monopoly and Risk, but Settlers of Catan beats them all in terms of overall enjoyment and pace. The box, board and all pieces are very high quality, and it is clear that this game is made by people who love quality gaming experiences. I heartedly recommend Settlers of Catan.
Best board game ever April 4, 2010 Mrs. E. Good (Malvern) I'm a huge fan of board games and I must say this that this is the best in my opinion. We have around 50 board games at home and this has been pretty much the only one we have played since we received it as a present a couple of years ago. I can highly recommend the game expansions too - worth noting that traders and barbarians includes a two-player version (possible to play without the actually purchasing this extension, if you can find a copy of the rules somewhere), which works brilliantly. Our current favourite exapansion/variant is cities and knights (a bit more complex than the seafarers extension). One of the best things about this game is each game is totally different as you can change the board set up each time. We also like the fact that compared with most other games, the outcome is mostly down to skill and not luck.
Excellent family game March 7, 2010 Stewart Townsend (Leek, England) Excellent family game. Played before at my brother's and made me want to won it. All the family play- me, my wife and the two kids (9 and 6. Teaches strategy and planning and due to the variability of the board no two games are alike. Arrived in good time. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family
