Like many art movements the tag was applied in retrospect to a broad selection of artists, architects and designers, it would be difficult to assign a number of aims or objectives to every work that came under the umbrella of art deco. There are general characteristics that are evident in some of the work the most obvious being the streamlined appearance, especially obvious in architecture, which took cues from the aerodynamic forms used in industrial design.
